When I started blogging couple of months back, I thought I'll be a regular in posting events and activities in the life of a project manager. But soon I realised I over estimated my ability to put reality into words, now I really respect all those writers who write books I've never read.
Life was never this mechanical and not everything in my life was estimated, but now every move is thought twice and counted for. I know that's how businesses run, but not human. I see people around me just as good as machines with an expiry date or freshers just like a brand new car you don't want to push too much.
Ironically, individuals in between these 2 distinct points are the Project Managers, for many of us it is a game of productivity figures, I mean that's how I am suppose to calculate how much time will it take to complete the project and cost.
With increasing demand of the business to keep the knowledge flowing and have upto date info on how the business is doing, we upgrade to better systems which do not understand the human quotient. For the system it is the number which is the ultimate truth, it knows of no error except - human error.
So remember, somewhere some system has estimated your life...
