Talking e-mails

As a project manager your life depends and revoles around replying to a email or waiting for a reply from some one, this does not mean your profession is (likely) any different.

What interest's me the most is writing emails to individuals I've never seen or met, but thanks to the advances in human imagination and graphic skills most of us come equipped with - we start to create that virtual image of the person based on the name - as how it sounds (in our mind) and the gender, the voice of the person if you ever happen to have a call, and the email address it self !!!

And, then everytime you receive an email you start to imagin how that person would actually be thinking, what expressions s/he would have while typing, and a whole lot of stuff. As you read this blog and don't know me - your imagination is likely force you to draw a image - based on what i write, how i write, my name, the color scheme of the page - and most importantly what are you interpreting of the whole text on the screen.

Things were easy to recognise when you had hand written letters - one could figure what mood the person is in while writing the letter, how the text flows, the thought behind writing, and the jazz.

But with email, you shout with CAPITALS and you can always delete without leaving a mark on the page.

So next time you write an email, think of talking to that person while writing - you'll see some difference in the words you'll normally use. And, that's when you'll have your talking emails...
